Highgate Private Hospital received an outstanding rating for well-led services and a good overall grading from the Care Quality Commission.
This was the first time that the hospital had undergone an independent inspection from the regulator.
Located in an exclusive area of north London, Highgate Private Hospital intends to provide outstanding healthcare for the community.
Inspectors found that services at the hospital were particularly consistent, with every other category other than that well-led services being rated as good by the CQC.
The inspection had taken place between 6th and 8th December last year, with the intention of discovering the patient experience of care and treatment at the hospital.
Care Quality Commission investigations assess whether services are safe, effective, caring, responsive to people’s needs, and well-led.
Services at the hospital are provided to insured, self-paying and private patients, while there is also provision for NHS customers.
The report noted that the culture within the hospital is particularly open and transparent, with staff demonstrating a willingness to learn and improve, while also observing best practices regularly.
Employees interviewed during the inspection indicated that they were both happy and proud to work for the hospital, while the senior management team was well regarded by healthcare professionals at the organisation.
The Care Quality Commission were also encouraged that staff felt confident to raise any concerns or suggestions with the senior management team.
Patients also received excellent treatment at the hospital, with the Care Quality Commission finding that dignity and respect were afforded to those residing in the hospital by staff, including nurses, housekeeping employees and porters.
The Director of Highgate Private Hospital, Mark Hawken, indicated that he is delighted at the outcome of the Care Quality Commission inspection, and outlined his gratefulness to those working within the hospital.
“This was our first ever inspection, and I am so proud that the staff and the senior management team’s work ethic & dedication to excellence is reflected in the report. Our culture is certainly one of openness and transparency, and we use patient’s feedback continuously to offer an excellent service to the community.”
